1952 Bowman Baseball Cards

Topps Chewing Gum Company's  biggest conpetition in 1952 was the already established
Bowman Gum Co. of Philadelphia, PA.  Bowman had started issuing baseball card
sets in 1948.
Since Bowman was already using the practice of selling bubble gum using baseball cards
in the same pack as the gum, they sued Topps for the rights. The suit was unsuccessful.

The competition between the two companies finally came to an end when
